Stand with Refugees

Today is World Refugee Day! Designated by the United Nations in 2001, World Refugee Day is a day set aside to commemorate the strength, courage and perseverance of millions of refugees.  We are living in a time of a global refugee crisis. The number of refugees resettling to the US has diminished greatly under this new administration. And now more than ever, it is important that we stand together and speak up for the voiceless and vulnerable.

I invite you take a stance today (whether big or small) and show your support for refugees in this country. Together we can advocate on their behalf and stand in solidarity.

  1. Advocate. Sign a petition to show congress that you support refugees coming to this country and living here.
  2. Donate. There are many notable organizations out there doing great work to protect, advocate, and provide for refugees living in the US. I currently support Seek the Peace, an organization out of Dallas, TX that focuses its work on transforming relationships, building capacity, and political advocacy. You can support for as little as $10 (or 2 cups of coffee) per month.
  3. Engage. Share your voice on social media and invite your friends and followers to take a stand with you.
